2021 Legislative Calendar

The 2021 Regular Session convened Monday, January 11th and will operate remotely:

Washington State Senate to mix in-person and virtual work during 2021 session

Annotated 2021 Cutoff Calendar:

Mon. February 15 – Last day to read in committee reports (pass bills out of committee and read them into the record on the floor) in house of origin, except House fiscal committees and Senate Ways & Means and Transportation committees.

Mon. February 22 – Last day to read in committee reports (pass bills out of committee and read them into the record on the floor) from House fiscal committees and Senate Ways & Means and Transportation committees in house of origin. Bills with costs/revenues must pass Fiscal Committees in Body of Origin

Tues. March 9 – Last day to consider (pass) non-fiscal bills in house of origin (5 p.m.).

Fri. March 26 – Last day to read in committee reports (pass bills out of committee and read them into the record on the floor) from opposite house, except House fiscal committees and Senate Ways & Means and Transportation committees. Bills must pass Policy Committee in Opposite Body’s Policy Committee.

Fri. April 2 – Last day to read in opposite house committee reports (pass bills out of committee and read them into the record on the floor) from House fiscal committees and Senate Ways & Means and Transportation committees. Bills with costs/revenues must pass Fiscal Committees in Opposite Body’s Fiscal Committee.

Sun. April 11* – Last day to consider (pass) opposite house bills (5 p.m.) (except initiatives and alternatives to initiatives, budgets and matters necessary to implement budgets, differences between the houses, and matters incident to the interim and closing of the session). Bills with costs/revenues must pass the floor of the Opposite Body.

Sun. April 25 – Last day allowed for regular session under state constitution.

* After 5:00pm on the 91st day, only initiatives, alternatives to initiatives, budgets and matters necessary to implement budgets, matters that affect state revenue, messages pertaining to amendments, differences between the houses, and matters incident to the interim and closing of the session may be considered. 2021 Regular Session cutoff dates were established in ​​​ SCR 8401​, and adopted by the House & Senate.
